Not sure if this is for a single song or the whole album, but Matt is offering to send hand-written lyrics to winners of his Instragram challenge:
Who wants to win some handwritten lyrics?
Take a photo of yourself doing something you wish you could do FOREVER, tag it with #MattHiresForever, and post it to Instagram!
I’ll pick a couple winners in a few days. Have fun!
Good luck! (You’re gonna need it, cause I’ve totally got this one. Heh.)
I was looking for Matt’s album on the singer songerwriter chart at ITunes and could not figure out why he wasn’t showing up. That’s when I realized they had categorized his album as pop. Pop is a much harder chart to move up on because… it’s pop. I didn’t see his album at first and thought – oh well, how can you compete against “Now That’s What I Call Music, Vol. 47″. But then I found him, sandwiched between Justin Timberlake and Backstreet Boys. Higher than P!nk but lower than Daft Punk at number 17.
Here’s a cap. I’ll update this post if the album goes any higher on the list.
Make sure to pick up a copy of Matt’s new album, “This World Won’t Last Forever, But Tonight We Can Pretend”, TODAY. You can get it on ITunes here!

Let’s get it to #1 on ITunes charts!

Says Matt of his new album:
“It has some of that singer/songwriter heart in there, but making this one, I knew I wanted to experiment with arrangements more,” Hires says of his full-length sophomore effort. “Some of the arrangements are a little more pop, some of it’s a little more edgy, and all of the songs have a little more honesty to them.”
On Facebook, he said “All I want for my birthday is for you to buy my new album next week.” But I think he also wanted this cake. Happy Birthday, Matt!

You can’t call yourself a fan if you don’t pony up for the sounds.
Matt posted the track list for his CD This World Won’t Last Forever, But Tonight We Can Pretend which is due to be released on 8/13.
In an unfair turn of events (for me anyway), Kiss FM will be presenting both Family of the Year and Matt Hires on August 1 as part of their Cool Canyon Nights series. If you’re lucky enough to be near El Paso, that would be a show you ought to try to make.
This is from earlier this year, but it just popped up on YouTube.
