Hey everyone. I’m not sure if this is the right place to take something like this, but I couldn’t find anything better so here I am.
I’ve been a fan of Matt’s, gosh, since I first heard of him in 2008. Wow, time flies. Anyway, I haven’t made my presence known here, though I’ve lurked frequently, and I don’t have a twitter, but I was thinking: one relatively untapped resource as far as spreading news about Matt is tumblr. I’ve been actively involved in tumblr since December of last year. There’s not a large community there that knows about Matt, but the people who do really love him. I was just wondering if y’all would be interested in getting a blog for Matt started up over there. I’d love to be involved in whatever capacity I’m needed. I think tumblr’s the exact type of social platform that could be very helpful for spreading information about Matt. Anyway, I apologize for this long and somewhat rambling message. A friend tuned me into Matt, told me to check him out after seeing how I love music and musicians….instantly hooked, purchased album on ITunes and listened over and over and over..now have the A to B EP and I’ve been lucky to have seen him live in Minneapolis, MN 2 times; State Line Tours Part 1 at beginning of this year and a month a so ago..I had the pleasure of a meet and greet with Matt, so cute, nice and a gentleman…talk about pressure to make a good impression and not look like a fanatic fan (though I am). I HEART Matt Hires!

Thanks for putting this great site up for all things “Matt”. Matt unselfishly played bass for a long time for our church band. I also had the privilege of managing Matt’s band “Brer” for awhile out of Tampa, FL, and being with them part of the time during their recording of their demo album in Nashville! What an awesome time!

Hello everyone, I too heard of Matt through Jason. Looked him up on utube and instantly fell in love with his voice. I did get the pleasure of meeting him and getting a picture with him when he was here in Denver. He is a real sweetheart and cute too. Besides the fact that he wears plaid shirts and cool shoes which is a huge selling point as far as I am concerned;0) I love his album and will buy anything else he puts out. I am looking forward to a repeat performance on April 26th..
WOW its been way too long since I’ve been here…and watching Matt’s videos really makes me miss seeing him again..I’m so glad that I got a chance to see him perform with his band…three times..So glad I had that opportunity…love your music Matt.

Matt Hires. I started listening to a few of his tunes prior to seeing him perform in Michigan. I wish I would have purchased his entire CD prior to the event – because I can say after listening to the album a zillion times now many have become favorites. I keep catching different notes or lyrics that I didn’t pick up on at first. I feel lucky that those of us at the Mich. show got to hear You in the End – he sounded great. He was so nice to talk to after the show and I hope he comes back to the Ark. Right now my favorites are You in the End and O Sunrise – (I pretend I know how to waltz) and You are the One – a little spiritual interpretation possibly? I’m still listenting to Matt’s playlist on Copia – he’s got me looking up newgrass and fusion jazz. I like his style. And I like the style of this new site for Matt.
Hi I’m sweetpea (aka Acousticfan). I saw Matt perform back in January and I really enjoyed his set. I bought his CD and spoke with him briefly afterwards. He seemed like a really nice guy. I starting listening to the CD the next day and I really liked quite a few of the songs.
I’m sad to see that he will be back in NY on April 10th, the day I will be returning from vacation. I won’t be able to make it. I would love to see him again. I’m happy that I now have a place where I can check and see when he’ll be around again. Thanks for setting this up.
Hi, i actually started listening to Matt a while back, i have a friend that lives in Tampa and she is the one that first told me about him…she works at a vintage shop there, and Matt & his wife shop there sometimes, one day she told me you have to check out this guy named Matt Hires, so i myspaced him, and ended up loving what i heard. I was lucky enough to catch Matt in Austin & Houston (i actually helped sell his merch in Houston). He is such a sweet guy, i loved meeting and chatting with him…i wish i could see him when he tours with Needtobreathe, but he will mainly be doing East coast shows…hopefully he’ll come back to Texas soon!
One of the best parts of meeting him in Houston was, i randomly asked him if he knew what show Jason would be on, without even thinking about it he said, “Oh yeah, it’s the bachelor or bachelorette, whichever one is on right now.”
I saw Matt in Santa Fe along with Jason and Caitlin. The Statelines tour was so much more that I hoped it would be! Matt was just amazing live and was so refreshing…. just as nice as could be! There was something so endearing about him when he talked to the audience and this was confirmed even more when I talked to him afterwords.
I was so thrilled to have Jason come to our area and heard great things about Matt, but wasn’t expecting to be so pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed getting to know Matt. I had him sign an extra tour poster and he asked me if I was on the street team…. proud to tell him I was! Glad I put up lots of posters for him around town! Love this site!

Hellooo, I’m Jillster and I discovered Matt Hires having heard him on Sirius radio’s coffee house. Since I was already a Jason Castro fan, I was more than pleased to have the opportunity to see them both at Joe’s Pub in NYC on the State Lines Tour, along with the great Caitlin Crosby.
Matt is a charismatic and confident performer with a unique voice, but also the cutest and sweetest low key person you could ever meet. I was holding myself back from pinching those rosy cheeks!

I’m a Jason Castro fan for sure…and what a more than pleasant surprise to see that I really likes Matt’s sound. I discovered Matt Hires while watching Gray’s Anatomy last November. Out Of The Dark was the background
song to a dramatic scene, lost track of the story line because all I could hear was that song. Googled the song. downloaded the CD and the rest as they say is history.
I freaked when I heard that Jason Castro was opening for Matt and that they were playing in my home town!
Seeing him perform live has only cemented my love of his music.

Hi! My name is Ohio and I am a Mattoholic. I started listening to Matt in preparation for seeing him with Jason Castro and fell in love with his music. By the time I saw him the first time, I was able to sing along with all of his songs. And when I met him, I knew I was meeting a genuine, gentle, talented soul.

I was lucky enough to get a tweet back from Matt himself confirming that the tour would begin in my home state of Florida.
