We know that Matt is in LA right now recording…. What he’s recording is a great mystery, but we have a few tweets from him to give us a little insight and we can cross our fingers that we’re talking CD or even EP. We’ll have to wait to know for sure, but the following are public statements straight from the horse’s mouth.

On June 12, I tweeted to ask if he was co-writing and/or working with Eric Rosse, to which he responded:

No co-writes, and yes, I’m recording with Rosse again… That’s all I’ll reveal for now.

So mysterious! And finally we got this tweet that led many of us to speculate about his street cred:

Recorded some gang vocals in the studio tonight with the fellas… Good stuff.

Read into it what you want, but I’ve got my fingers crossed that we’re talking some brand new music soon. EEE!!

Our baby has finally grown up and left the nest.  It was only a matter of time.

What’s that you say?  Matt’s been on his own for years?  Well, duh.  I was talking about this – the ridiculous bumper sticker inspired by Matt’s hilarious suggestion. It has manifested in the real world.

I confess the first time I saw our bumper sticker in 3-D (yeah I know – it’s a sticker so it was still 2-D), it was on the back of my car.  I know you’re all jealous.

Then to my great surprise I caught a tweet from @RAQU3L with the following image:

Holy cow!  That’s been signed!!  I admit that it threw me to see something from here out in the world and I immediately tweeted RAQU3L for info about how she came to have it. She shared this little bit about the autograph:  “Matt looked at me like >.O when I said ‘Can you sign my keychain?’ [...] ‘Your keychain….?’ then I said but you don’t even knw what’s on the front, and he chuckled.”

I’ve been hard pressed to find any new covers by Matt lately. As I watched the Blender.com interview, I realized how I never get tired of hearing Matt’s own songs. Inspired by my ‘Star’ Sister, Laurel who posted a pretty good cover of State Lines by xswankydorkx I went on a quest to find a good cover of another one Matt’s songs.

Wow. The essence of good song writing, both melody and lyrics, is coverability, and damn if there aren’t a virtual plethora of amateurs loving to cover a Matt Hires’ song. Weeding through the many teenaged unmade-bedroom youtubes, I came across this gem.

Plus a performance!

I went looking for tour posters to add to a new gallery with just posters announcing Matt Hires!! Woohoo!! On the way I stumbled on some lovely pictures from the photo shoot with Reid Rolls that produced the tour photo for the State Lines Tour Poster and snagged those. So there’s another new gallery for photo shoots… and I also found a cool wallpaper and created a gallery for any future finds.

PS – Matt, please explain one day whatever happened to that shirt. It’s really lovely.

PS 2 – I think it’s fair to say that the CD Cover came from this shoot too, but I don’t see that picture in Reid’s gallery.   Must dig further…  (Sorry Matt, I’m plenty bored.)
