Matt was interviewed in Phoenix for Statepress.com. Here’s an excerpt:
SP: You just kicked off your tour of over 30 dates. What’s life been like on the road and how do you balance your life while you’re out there?
MH: It’s been really busy, for the most part. This is the first tour that I’ve done with a full band and the first headlining tour I’ve done, so there are a lot of new things that go along with that. It’s harder than being the opener because when you’re headlining, you’re the first ones at the venue and the last one to leave. The nights of sleeping are a little shorter and some of the drives are pretty rough. But it’s been good. It’s been really fun so far.
Too obvious to resist. Submit your LOLMattz in the comments section.

It seemed only fitting that today, the last day of the State Lines Tour (tears) we spotlight the guys that have been helping Matt rock venues across the country and entertaining us via twitter. We are really gonna miss “The Shady Bunch!”

AARON BISHOP – Bass Guitar

credit:Jason Tang Photography
“I started playing bass in 8th grade….was a band geek in the high school Jazz Band and started to take music seriously then. My high school band (which Bob Matthews was in) started gigging frequently around Orange County, CA. Opening for major touring acts and actually making money doing what we loved….it was then I knew I would do this as a career. I started playing with a guy named Tyrone Wells during my last year of college and have been with him for over 5 years now. Since I became a musician professionally I’ve played in every situation imaginable…outside in 15 degree Colorado weather playing bass for Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers, learning 12 songs in 12 hours for a last minute gig with Keaton Simons, church gigs, bar gigs, playing to 10 people in a mexican restaurant to playing for 3,000 people in an amphitheater. I will continue to do this as long as life allows it. It is an amazing job and I love every minute of it!!”
